  As reported on  April 25 in the Westfair Business Journal for Fairfield County , Governor Lamont was cited for illegally cutting down 186 trees, without a permit, and while crossing property lines--all for the sake of improving the view of a pond.  Permit and property line problems notwithstanding, cutting down a couple hundred trees makes it pretty hard to take the Governor seriously as pro-environment leader.  Walking the talk matters. Trees, as many Connecticut residents know, play a critical role in climate action, capturing carbon, cooling the environment, protecting against floods, erosion and more.   Cutting down or burning forests releases the carbon stored in their trees and soil, and prevents them from absorbing more CO2 in the future. Since 1850, about 30% of all CO2 emissions have come from deforestation. Deforestation can also have more local climate impacts.   On March 15 from 9 to 10:30 am , please come to the State Capitol in Hartford to advocate for strong and meaningful legislation to protect our environment and keep Connecticut's climate promise! You'll hear from speakers about bills before the legislature on topics including climate, clean energy, pollution reduction, toxics, and waste reduction. The organizers will have materials for you to share with your legislators following the program. Once you have RSVP 'd, please reach out to your own legislators ( look them up here ), invite them to the program, and ask to meet with them after the program ends at 10:30 am. Email Your Support for Solar Energy or Speak at Tues. 2/27 Hearing Do you care about the environment and wish you could do more to help it?  You can!  Our state legislators need to hear that you want Connecticut to get more of our energy from solar power. They can't read your mind!
